is this EE (possibly Ameraucana) a pullet or roo? CONFIRMATION, pg 6!

I have come back to this thread 3 or 4 times just to look at him. I think he is the most gorgeous roo I've seen on here.

The Marans is for sure (I've renamed her Deirdre - she outgrew "Delilah"

), and Esme might be too. Yesterday I found a huge, stunning dark egg with spots out in the pen and today I found an even darker, smaller one without spots in a nestbox. The first two! Do you think that Esme could lay a dark brown egg? Or could Deirdre have laid both?

I'll get pics of the girls tomorrow. For now, here's a shot of some eggs

Now that's what I'm talking about! I'm so in love with those dark mahogany eggs!!!!
Yes, it is possible that the dark brown speckled egg is from Esme - even though she has the beard, muff, and pea comb. These barnyard mixes can be any combination of the different breeds and she seems to be showing the Ameraucana and Marans, but apparently there is something else in there as well (if she is laying the brown egg). One time (but only one time, so it'd be pretty unlikely), I had a similar instance where an Ameraucana look - alikeEaster Egger layed a brown egg for her entire first season, molted, and then layed a slightly green tinted egg. It was sort of freaky really. I personally love the dark spotted eggs.
Can't wait for photos of the girls.
How's the smoke up your way?

It's pretty hazy up this way. There's a fire right near town that's already consumed 2000 acres and is lighting up the night sky! I heard that there are couple fires burning in the Bitterroot. How's the air quality in Hamilton?

Here are some pics of the girls. Couldn't get a good full-body of Deirdre because she was hard at work in the nestbox. They both have such amazing iridescence - they put my australorp to shame

I tried to capture it on my camera, but unfortunately it's shady in their pen this time of day.

Well, Esme promised to grow up gorgeous and she certainly did not disappoint. Her coloring is so vibrant, and that almost looks like penciling on her chest. I don't know how she happened, but I'm sure glad that she did - she is lovely (and very aptly named).
