It should be fine.View attachment 2279528Forgive the messy roof I’m trying to find a better solution.
My goal is to connect bird netting to the 6 ft fence than to my house so they can’t fly out of the yard. That would give them 500 square feet of yard plus the run and coop."So far" being the key words. A too small enclosure can lead to behavioral problems such as feather picking, plus it'll be much harder to keep both coop and run sanitary due to poop build up in a small area.
The recommended minimum on here is 4 sq ft in coop + 10 in run per bird. I highly recommend going bigger... even with a small flock I wouldn't go smaller than 100 sq ft., such as a 10x10 dog kennel. That lets you put the coop inside for a little extra security and has enough space to add a few bonus items to help keep the birds busy.
I consider it far too small for 5 LF birds especially in a hot climate like Texas.View attachment 2280022
I have 5 chickens 4 hens and one roo this is about 36 square feet. My goal is to use this pen for bad weather and nights. I have bought mesh bird net to connect to my fence and house to create a barrier so they can not fly out this would give them about 400 square feet of yard and then they can sleep in the coop/run they like to just sleep in the run some nights. Do I need to expand my run just so they have more run space even though they are free range during the day? Weather in San Antonio really isnt too bad though.
I don't lock them in the coop ever just the coop run combo and we have a shaded backyardI consider it far too small for 5 LF birds especially in a hot climate like Texas.
The coop doesn't have nearly enough ventilation. I would never lock them in that coop.
I would build something bigger with a large roof overhang with an open air concept.
