Two of my buff orpingtons are not laying yet. Today, my older son brought in the eggs from the coop and this solid white one was among them. I know exactly which hens laid the brown/cream eggs, but the white one is a mystery.
So I broke open a "home grown" egg next to the white egg. The white egg looks store bought to me b/c of the lighter yolk.
However, both my sons swear that neither of them placed the white egg in the nesting box as a prank.
My 2 young orpingtons are very close to being the age to lay, so I'm not sure what to think. What say ye?
White egg is on the right:
Could it *possibly* be that a buff orpington laid a white egg as her very first egg, and the yolk is that much lighter? Or are my boys playing this for all it's worth?
