is this full muscovy or a cross?

danischi24, as a kid we raised mules for the restaurant trade. Muscovy drakes X pekin females. The hens did not lay eggs. Some even went broody and set on apples and stones. I still do not believe that mules produced by putting muscovy drakes on mallard derived hens are capable of producing eggs of any sort. The reciprocal cross can OCCASSIONALY produce non-fertile eggs.

Mules are fertile when croossed back on a pure of either breed. Mule to mule is not fertile. Tom

That really doesnt look like a cross to me... I had some ducklings that looked just like that...

If you cross a Muscovy male with a mallardx female you will hatch moulards (or mule ducks)
If you cross a mallardx male with a Muscovy female you will hatch hinnies.

Only female hinnies can lay eggs. Female mules cannot.

In your case you have a muscovy female and a mallardx male so the baby is a hinnie. This means it will be able to lay eggs.
