I got this in my email--an ad for an ebook on profiting from chickens--kinda figured he must have gotten my name/addy from this website, so maybe he is a member here?? Tim Crane?

At any rate, I would order the book if I was assured the guy is offering real and doable material. Has anyone bought and applied his book to their own operation? I just don't want to throw my money down another bottomless internet hole if I can't confirm there is something to it.

I have neighbors behind me and they subscribed to the thinking that there's lots of money to be had by raising lots of chickens. Not sure if it's the same guy or the same principle but probably is.

Thinking is that you have cows and chickens. Cows free-range one pasture at a time, and the chickens follow afterwards, in tractors. Timed perfectly so that the bugs in the cow-patties are in the larvae stage so very tasty for the chickens to eat. Plus the grass. Raise them to butchering stage, and have it all set up and timed out.

To do this, you need a market where there isn't already someone doing this. You need to verify your costs, get the best deals on supplies, please your customers, etc.

My neighbors did this in a similar situation last year, but since they didn't have adequate pasture, they spent way too much on supplemental feed, then, because of the economy, people weren't willing to pay for the healthy organic birds because they were a few dollars more per bird than what was at the grocery.

I guess it's a possibility. But I would go to the library and look up anything having to do with making money while raising chickens. The librarian might be able to help you find good resources.

I know more than a few people who rear chickens in houses for Tyson, and others.

But if you want to know how to rear chickens the 'natural, organic, probiotic, holistic, free range way' - and profit handsomely from it, well.... that might be tougher.
At least the handsome profit part.

The one person I can think of off the top of my head iwho manages it is Bob Plamondon. And even he does more than just raise chickens - he writes, publishes and puts his wife to work, too.

But hey - for $10, go ahead and pony up for it if you're interested. You can blow that much on something else and probably not learn a thing.

OK, stupid me! I ordered. My money's gone and I did not receive the book. It says you will be redirected where you can download. Didn't happen. Nothing came in my email. Cannot find a Tim Crane at the address given through the operator.

So I am $10 poorer. I am soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo angry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
