Is this lice or mites?

I thought my hen was going through a molt (I'm a newer chicken keeper) but now I am suspicious it's a bug. I think I found a llice (louse?) on one of my silkies but I can't find live bugs on any of my chickens and she is the only one that is losing feathers/bald spots. Does this look like mites or lice?

I don't know but do you use diatomaceous earth?

If it were lice, you'd be more likely to actually see the bugs. Either way, Sevin garden dust will kill both mites and lice. DE or wood ash are other more natural treatments. Just make sure you get the coop too!

Diatomaceous earth the food grade kind works greats for fleas,mites , and de-worming your chickens just get a scoop full of it and sprinkle it all over the coop and in there bedding you can also take a small hand full and rub it on your chickens feathers.http://www.richsoil.com/diatomaceous-earth.jsp

DE will not prevent nor treat worms.

That's what I was thinking! I have DE and I also have Sevin powder...I was going to use both since I have two coops.
