Lice and mites are two very different things.
Lime will treat neither.

Either will work.
I use dust/powder in the winter and spray when it's warm.

Yes it’s awful & I feel bad for not checking her sooner. I will get some of this.

You will need to treat all of them most likley. With that bad of an infestation I'm sure the others are infested also.

I was able to catch & examine 3 of my other hens and I did see a few lice. None of the nits on shafts but I’m sure they’re there. I will definitely treat all 6 hens. And I’ve learned a lesson on taking in chickens!

Yes.
Permethrin. Often...every five days, all birds and coop for at least 3 treatments.

What about hens eggs during these 3 weeks? Will they absorb the permethrin? Should I toss them?

No need to worry about the eggs. They are fine.

Lice & nits?? Photos of vent & area just below. I took in this hen a couple of months ago. Her rear end was always sort of dirty but just got worse and now I see why! I have my flock of 5 others hens. None of them like to be caught so I can’t easily examine. I don’t see any other dirty rears. What do I treat with & how? I’ve been reading threads here & online - I’ve seen a few suggested products to use. Are there instructions? Will I have to catch these birds every day?View attachment 2631814

Yes those are lice nests. Put Vaseline on them and suffocate them. Cut away any you can.

If you prefer not to eat the eggs during this time put them in the blender whole and then make omletes or scrambled eggs to feed yo your girls.
