I have been hearing a pathetic little crow in the early morning hours, but could not figure out who it was!

I kept looking at my barred rocks, as their combs are so juicy big and red!

But this morning I saw who the culprit was. Its this little bantam, I do not even know the breed! Tabby (which is her name) stood up tall, threw her head high and crowed while I was watching! Do you think its a rooster? (I realize that sounds silly, but the comb isnt huge)

If any of you could tell me what the breed of this little he/she is I would appreciate it!

also, in the photo below, you will see my two barred rocks. They are brother and sister, one is def bigger with bigger comb and feet etc. And the larger one (on the left) also has a longer tail in the back. Do you think its a she?

Thanks so much!

Thank you! I have been worried that the mystery crower was one of the barred rocks. Which had me questioning comb size!

Still don't know what breed the little bantam is, I have been doing online searches but can't seem to come up with anything that looks just like it.

After I posted this ,I hear the pathetic crowing sound and looked out to see the little bantam throwing his chest out proudly while making the noise. The other thing my husband mentioned is that this little guy/girl is always head forward running and chasing the other chickens.

I dunno *shrugs* I am still not sure because there isnt a big comb or wattles. The feathers on his neck are pointy though?

All girls.Bantam can be EE or Belgian D'Anvers-depends of the comb. For the crowing cneck polishes or some body elss.

ve, your so right! It is a little bantam EE!! Now that you have said it, I dont know how i missed it. Thank you so much!

Now if I could just figure out why in the heck she is strutting around and crowing!

I'm not sure what you mean, but I don't "think" I have a rooster. The little EE bantam does not look like a rooster to me either, but I saw her this morning jutting her chest out , raising her head up, and crowing, so that really threw me off.

What do you mean about hormones?

A maturing hen will crow. I have had those before. Also, often if there is no male at all, one hen will take up the job. I've seen that as well.

Wouldnt that be funny if Tabby, the tiniest teeniest little bantam because the "roo" of the flock. That would be hillarious.

Im just glad you all think shes a she, because I am so eggsited to see her little mini eggs!
