Hi. I feel like it may be too early to assist…and never have before…but I just want to make sure you guys don’t think this one is already in trouble??
It pipped earlier today and has been mostly zipped for about 4.5 hours. I know that’s not long, but it seems the shell broke away easy and the membrane is still there. When this little one ‘pushes’ the egg seems it should just break away, but doesn’t. The beak is outside the shell (towards the bottom). Maybe it’s just not pushing hard enough…or not ready to completely hatch yet? Thanks for any advice.

It's stuck. The membrane is clearly drying out. I would pop the top off and let it kick itself out of the shelll. You could also moisten the membrane with coconut oil.

What do you mean pop the top off? I do have another bird in there drying out….drying for about 6 or 7 hours now. I also have 2 other eggs in there…one pipped this morning and no other activity yet. I was thinking I could lift the lid a bit quickly and just try to separate the egg a bit to see it that helps? Would that help pull the membrane apart some so it could kick out?

Did it! Was nervous about it, but it worked! My husband lifted the front of the incubator lid, I gently pushed the other little one to the back and pulled the egg apart. That little one was all ready to kick out and is doing great..seems very strong! We were really quick about it and hopefully didn’t cause any shrink wrapping to the other egg. Thanks for your help!
