Is this molting? Or is she sick?

The comb is looking much redder since that photo was taken 3 days ago. She still hasn't laid an egg for over a week but egg production is not a huge concern for me, these girls are my pets. Today she is doing great, very active and a big appetite!

I have gone to the organic farm once a week for the past two years, I buy raw milk and before I bought chicken I got eggs there. I completely trust them, I have been in their house, barn, coop and greenhouses, they are VERY organic.

My main concern was treating the lice before they caused her major health problems. I just feel so bad that I might have hurt her.

Don't worry about it, time will tell and if she did have a reaction or overdose it's probably not your fault, these things happen. No use beating yourself up about it.

There will always be that odd one out who doesn't cope with something that's pretty routine. I don't know where you'd get the info for frequency of dosage with those lice killers, if it's not on the pack or website (doesn't seem to be) then what can you do? Lots of people end up in that boat, it's usually not a problem for most until suddenly someone cops the short end of the stick.

Main thing is that the animal lives, you do what you can with what you have and what you know, when you need to, and that's got to be good enough because it's all you can do.
