My Wyandotte hen has been missing her back feathers for a few weeks. I thought maybe she was caught by something but she doesn't have any wounds. She never lost any feathers from her head, neck etc or I would have said she was molting. I don't see any kind of infection or mites or bugs on her skin. She is still laying eggs and doesn't act sick.
Any clue what's going on with her? Thanks in advance.

Do you have a rooster? If so, this may be his favorite hen, but there are no missing neck feathers.

No rooster. Could the other hens have done this? They are not usually mean to each other.

When my hens went through their first molt it was kind of a mini-molt....a few only lost feathers on their necks. I couldn't figure out what was going on until the others began to molt a little more obviously. How old is she? Could it be her first molt? Mine were about 9-10 months when they did the first molt, in December when it was freezing out. So strange.
