I know the females hiss to but the females hiss by huffing air through there nose and it sounds like hissing but the drakes hiss from there vocal cords the hens dontFemales hiss to so that can't always be an indicator.

By 8 weeks there is usually a noticeable difference in the duck and drake in size.
