Is this mushy chick disease?

Hi all.

I’ve ordered chicks and ducklings online from a hatchery several times now. I’ve used three different hatcheries. I’ve been fortunate to have only ever received one deceased bird.I’ve also hatched several batches. This most recent batch of chicks arrived to the post office alive and healthy. All 15.

This is my first time with bantams. I ordered the assortment box. One passed away at a few days old. That was about the time that I realized that several were having pasty butt issues.

This was my first time dealing with pasty butt. Ever. I googled how to deal with it and each night I’d clean up 2 or 3 that was having issues. Tonight only 2 had a tiny bit of poo. The smaller of the 2 has had a lump on its abdomen. I noticed it after having the chicks for a few days so they may have been 6 days old.

Today they are about 2 weeks old. They hatched 7/17.

Does this appear to be mush chick disease? This is the only chick with a lump. Is is smaller than the other cochins but there are other bantams chicks in the mix that are smaller than it is. It could just be small.

If it is mushy chick, has anyone ever had a chick survive and the symptoms subside on their own?

If it’s not mushy chick disease, does anyone have an idea of what it may be? Is it treatable?

I know I’m a horrible chicken owner if I can’t put it out of its misery, but I can’t put it out of its misery. And it doesn’t appear to be suffering. It is in good spirits. It just waddles a bit.

Thanks for your help/input! I’m hoping for a good outcome.

It could be. I've only experienced it a couple times.
I did have one survivor of it, & if I remember right she did end up dying later on.

Most chicks with mushy chick disease die in the fist couple of weeks. It certainly looks like it could be, but in case of constipation, I would try some slightly chilled coconut oil cut into peckable pieces, or giving some mineral oil or molasses.
