Hi everyone,

I’ve noticed something with my chicken Jack and wanted to get some advice. A few weeks ago, his feathers were looking very rough and frizzy, and he had a lot of downy fuzzies all over. Most of his feathers have grown in nicely now, but the soft fuzzy feathers by his tail are still there.

He’s not being picked on or bullied by the other chickens, and he seems healthy and active. Is it normal for some fuzzies by the tail to stick around longer? Could this be a breed thing, molting issue, or something else?

Any insights would be appreciated!

i have already determined that is not the case i look at his featheres theres not missing or damaged he just has fuzzies

I can see damaged feathers in the pictures, the feathers there do have a downy part, which is what you’re seeing since the top part of the feather is gone
it started looking like that after coccidiosis before they got sick and after that the feathers in that area have been really weak
