Is this normal for a guinea keet to do?

haha. It gave me a heart attack when i got my first chicks.... They were ALL sleeping like the guinea keet pic you have and i thought they were all dead.d Now when i raise chicks i know what to expect lol.

lol...that is so funny! I just hatched my first batch of keets on the 19th and have yet to see them sleep like this. If I would have, I think I would have been in sheer panic!

Thanks for the laugh!

Hi we have 8 keeps and two of them were lying on their side kicking their feet and acting really sleepy and they were crooking their neck at a weird angle. We never had keets before so I'm new to this. We have ducks chickens and peacocks but this was odd looking. I thought they were dying or got crushed or maybe heat exhaustion since its like 95* here and we didn't put a light in the broader. Is that normal? It scared me so bad I took the out of the broader and bought them in the house. Please help

This thread is from 2009. Only one of the posters in this thread has even been on BYC since 2013. The one person who has been on BYC since then hasn't been on BYC since last August.

I recommend that you start your own thread and post pictures if you have them.

The potential difference between the OP and yours is description of the crooked neck and kicking. The OP picture shows a content , unstressed keet sleeping -who we have to assume woke readily & popped right back on it's feet, bright eyed. One of mine would do this when I took the brooder out in the summer sunshine.
Please try to get picture or video (video has to be loaded on to youtube with link posted here, pictures automatically upload) so that @R2elk or another experienced breeder can tell you if your keet's behavior is normal or not. The sooner you can do that the better chance of successfully helping it,if indeed it needs help.

Some one to give me an advice please, I have hatched my keet in an incubator then after 1 day some they are unable to walk, I have given them vitamin and mineral but they still unable to walk and now the have remained 4 out of 50 keet

Oh how awful! Have you tried posting in the diseases and emergencies forum? Are they vigorous when they have just hatched? Have you checked temperature and drafts? It’s unusual to lose the keets so quickly after hatching.
