Is this normal for a hatching egg?

This is her first time hatching ANY type of bird so I'm gonna let her keep it

Oh good. I’m a sucker for watching mommas raise babies. First timers are always a wild card, never know how they will react, but when you find a good one, there’s nothing like it!

The hour the duckling hatched her motherly instincts kicked in. She would cluck quietly each time the duckling started to peep to comfort him/her. And when I picked up the duckling (since it's the first time I've seen a freshly hatched bird) and put it back momma put herself on top of the duckling to keep him/her warm.
