Hello all,

New mom and I have had one chick - a Barred Rock that has been touch n go the last day (she was really droopy, not feeling good yesterday, but seemed better this am)

Anyway, she has this white little circle-like thing next to her eye that looks a little crusty & is like a little pin hole?

I'm not sure if this is normal anatomy or what but it doesnt look like the other chicks have this.

Forgive me if this is absolutely naive, but I just wondered if this is something I should be worried about?

I just ADORE my new babies and am a little paranoid/overprotective and completely in love with my new chicks.

Any comments would be appreciated:

And here is the whole gang (a whole 7 of them...LOL)--sorry the partridge Rock totally snubbed me......

I can't really tell from the picture, it's too small. Is this circle in front or in back of her eye, and is it on one side or both?

Sorry, they are SO dang hard to get photos of by yourself.

It is in the "inner corner" so to speak of the eye.

It is on 1 side only

Ugh, I dont know how to work a camera & a chick at the same time. Sorry but do you get the idea?? Or am I crazy?

have no clue...sorry...hope someone can answer your question !!

No expert here or anything.. But I had two BR chicks and neither had anything that looked like that. Neither do any of my other chicks that I have seen so far.

This is just a guess! But it may be a small opening in the tear duct. It should not hurt him. it may be more seseptable to sinus infection? It may grow out of it. I really don't know! I wish I had more info for ya!!! If it is healthy and normal otherwise I wouldn't worry!

Good Luck and God Bless!

I wish I knew what it was so I could tell you but I don't

If it's not oozing or getting bigger and the other birds are leaving it alone, I would just monitor it and perhaps keep it a little moist/clean with some antibacterial ointment? Just don't get it in the eye itself? How old is it?

A little dumpiness I think is normal when they've been shipped. As long as it's eating and drinking and pooping, I would just nurse it some until an expert chimes in. Good luck!
