I am hatching Silkie and serama chicks. It’s day 22 and still no chicks. One tried to pip but I think it died. It’s almost 23 and in the other eggs, I see no movement. Is this normal?

Try this, I had to do this for one of my chicks and he is still alive. It is normal and give them at least until day 24. Make sure the humidity is at at least 65% and no matter what DO NOT OPEN THAT INCUBATOR LID!!!!!!!!!!! Because if you open the lid during the hatch the humidity will drop and it takes a half hour for the humidity to build up and that is just the right amount of time for the membrane to dry out and trap the chick. You stopped turning the eggs at day 19 right? Good luck!

How can you assist and also not open the lid??
If you do have to open the lid there are ways to keep the humidity up, open it in as small a crack as you can, be as quick as you can, put a sponge you wet with hot water in when you open it... but if the egg has pipped, it is probably strong enough to get out on its own, it is very hard to be patient, but try! Usually if you end up having to assist a chick it will die anyway as it was weak to start with.
