Sebright rooster named Ace. He has like crusty on his face. Look at the picture. Is that ok? The temperature just went form 85 all the way to 50 over night. So dose he have a cold?

I’m sorry, but I dont see what you’re talking about. Maybe someone else can spot it.

It looks like there is some nasal or eye drainage that has crusted. Wipe it off with warm water. Look for any bubbles in his eyes, and make sure where the drainage is coming from. Get him warm, and listen for noisy breathing or sneezing. Have you added any new birds recently?

Yes, so his sister had a similar issue. She was allergic to pollen though. His sister passed away laying and egg. But I got a new sebright named Minnie and she has had no sickness. I have had her for a month now. All 3 of the birds I was talking about are from the same breeder. He has no medical issues with any of his birds and they’re all vaccinated for Newcastle disease and fowlpox. My sebright (Ace) and all my other sebrights all pant and lot after they run short distances like across the play area. But they are very small birds and don’t do well in the cold. But there is all my recent flock history.

Vet Rx is made of herbal oils (rosemary, oregano, balsam pine oil, and camphor, and nothing in that will treat a respiratory disease. It is safe to use, though, similar to Vicks Salve. It could be that the disease was brought in recently with the newest addition. They can be silent carriers. Even if your birds are all from the same breeder, it is possible that it came from them. Wild birds in our backyards can bring in diseases, and germs are also transferred on our shoes if we visit feed stores or other people’s flocks. It is common to pick diseases up if you show chickens. If she has a virus called infectious bronchitis, that can last a month and go away. You can read about that, MG, coryza, and other respiratory diseases here:
