Is this normal?

I had a chick born still attached to umbilical cord and the shell. It came off by its self but the chicks belly looks swollen and bruised. Is this normal? It just crawls around and seems more tired than the others. It's dry now but the other chicks are trampling it.

It sounds like it has an internal abdominal infection called omphalitis. Chicks can get that if their yolk doesn't absorb as quickly as it should leaving the naval open too long. Bacteria grow very well in the warm cavity fed by the yolk.

If you can, get it on some antibiotics asap. That should help.

It is also possible that it has some internal issues and some malformation.

Hopefully some antibiotics will rid the bacterial infection.
