One of my chicks is not growing feathers on her head. The feathers on her body look normal but her head is looking a little bald. Is this normal? Should I be concerned? Her head also looks pretty small compared to the others. She is about 6 weeks old.

Have you noticed any of the other chicks pecking/picking the feathers out?

Chickens' heads aren't as large as they look. Like their bodies, they're "fluffy."

My first winter with chickens, some of them had a partial molt, and they mostly lost feathers on their heads. I thought their heads had shrunk!

I havent noticed any of the others bothering her! She's always been a bit smaller than the others so I wondered if she might just be taking longer to grow!

Their heads are the last part to fully feather and some are slower to feather than others. Her head looks small because she is a Cornish x. It’s not uncommon for their breasts to get huge while the rest of their body grows slower. Hence why they tend to have health issues their meaty parts get too big too fast and the rest of their body can’t keep up.
