Is this "normal"??

I think I've read of some people experiencing that. My roo's not old enough yet, but that would be fun to watch. Can you get it on video?
 
Yeah, it happens. Hens will also sing to other hens. Some roosters will even sit in the nexting box with their hens to keep them company.

My boys used to do that.
 
When a hen gets anxious and starts clucking and looking for the nest or secret place to lay my roo will spring into action...
He will go to nest or corner and sit and wiggle and talk to encourage the hen to join him. He then stands there and coos to her while she lays the egg!
And he squawks the loudest after she lays it!

I also have a bantam rooster that sings to an English game hen when she lays...I asked my friend about it that has tons of chicken experience...I thought maybe he was "comforting" her...but turns out my friend thinks that he is just being an opportunist and taking advantage of the fact that she has gotten "still" so that he can show off to her....don't know...but I like the "singing" theory myself...
