I think because he's not the "main" roo, he isn't allow to mount the girls. But he need so relieve himself and doesn't know any better. You said that you have 2 roos for 7 girls. The standard ratio is 1 to 10. I think you need to give him his own girls or move him away from them. I think he would be happy if he has his own girls.

Yeah.. I Plan on getting some eggs to hatch under one of my girls once she goes broody.. I found a home for the other two roos, I'm just waiting for the guy to come pick them up hopefully sometime this weekend.. I definitely want more pullets.. I was actually supposed to have 9 pullets but two of them turned out to be roos.. Oh well, live and learn..

I don't see where anything was said that calls for policing but who am I to know. I guess talking about mating habits of chickens on a chicken based website is just plain out wrong, Also, I guess when the chickens are breeding in the backyard and the kiddies are outside the lillte censor blackout thing magically pops up so the lil kiddies are unable to see...yea right. I think perhaps our freedom of expression must not apply to BYC! Maybe I need to find me a different site to hang out with.

Well, I was going to pipe up here and say that I thought that leaving such a fantastic forum for someone expressing their opinion that we where getting out of line would be pretty silly, but then I realized that someone deleted the 2 posts containing the word masturbation and roosterbation. This is absolutely ridiculous.

This sort of behavior reminds me of the kids parents across the street from the house I grew up in whom homeschooled their kids. The parents would not let them watch public television without a particular program being recorded, prewatched, certain parts where someone said penis or fart recorded over, then the kids could watch it. Listening to the radio too was off limits. I gave them a cb radio at some point only to have them return it a few days later because someone on the air said a curse word.

These same kids have grown up to be completely dysfunctional adults. If it where not for the church I believe they could not function. They both had normal jobs for a while ad did pretty well as they where both very intelligent, but something always tripped them up, whether it be them trying to tell people how they are living their lives wrong, or reporting stupid stuff to the boss like so and so taking paper clips out of the office. I think it is pretty sad that these people damaged their children so badly that they cannot live their lives without having to accept jobs from the church.

My point here is that kids will see and hear a LOT worse at school than something like was said here. If you tell me that you send your kids to private school for that reason I will tell you that maybe they need private internet as well, previously viewed and edited for content.

Cutlass.. I have to agree with you.. And, I find it truly sad that an honest question on my part has struck up this much controversy! As for the private school thing, well, I attended public school from K-8 and then attended a PRIVATE Catholic H.S.... As for behaviors, language, fighting, and things you don't expect from this type of environment, well, let's just say I saw and heard it ALL!! Kids ARE going to be exposed to things parents don't want them to.. It's the PARENT'S job to teach the kids better than everyday society! OMG, Has ANYONE seen THE SIMPSONS... or FAMILY GUY... You can't tell me that kids aren't watching these shows!! I know I watched simpsons when i was a kid.. And my 11 yr old son watches both of these shows now.. Yeah, there is a lot of controversial stuff on these shows.. There are a lot of innuendos he don't understand.. But they are cartoons none the less... If he has a question, I answer it.. If I don't agree with something that is said/done on the shows, I TEACH him otherwise!!! It is MY job as his mother to teach him right from wrong.. And a lot of you may disagree with my letting him watch these two programs but you know what? I've been to his school! I KNOW the kids in this neighbor hood.. And I know what he is learning when he is around them! Do I agree with it? NO! But, I can't shelter my child from every word, every sight and every action that I don't agree with!! I would much rather have my child grow up in a NORMAL environment and be a NORMAL adult.. Come on people! Can you HONESTLY say that before the day you turned 18 and became an adult that you NEVER heard a cuss word or NEVER saw ANYTHING with ADULT content?? I guarantee 99% of you will say "no"... And you know what? For the 1% of you who can say yes, I'm 35 years old and all my life I have known 2 people who were so sheltered that they weren't allowed to even watch DISNEY movies because of the "content" their parent's believed were too "controversial".. Let me tell you people, These two adults were completely a totally CLUELESS as to how to be an adult! They are dysfuntional! And they never learned about LIFE the way most of us have! They don't have any idea on how to handle everyday situations like most of us do and I would NEVER wish that on ANY child... Again, I apologize for creating this controversial discussion.. My question was an honest one and I wanted to ask the people that I have seen give so much good information and advice for the last year that I've been here.. But, perhaps I was wrong.. Maybe we should censor our Chickens and not allow them to do adult chicken things! Wow! Imagine what the world would be like then! We wouldn't want our children to ask, "______ (insert adult's name here), What is that rooster doing?!"
