is this normal ?

We have 3 RIR's and when we built the coop we had 4 separate stalls ... 1 for food and the other three were for each one to make a nest to lay eggs. They are all using the same nest?? I thought each would want their own.

Perfectly normal. I have 8 nesting boxes for 12 hens and they all use the same 2-3 boxes to lay in.

My hens line up like an airport runway, all waiting for the same box. Sometimes as many as three are crammed in the same box.

And oh my goodness! the fights that start when a top-ranking hens find their favorite box already occupied.

12 hens, 3 boxes, they all use the same box, often two or three hens in it at the same time. I'm surprised more of the eggs don't get damaged.

I got 7 boxes and 10 layers at this point. 2 barreds use #1 box 4rir and 1 barred use the #6 box and the rest use any box. Nobody uses #3 box,might have found 1 egg in it ever.
