I have 4 big fat 3-4 month old turken roosters who are nice and fat and butchering age. I am giving them away for FREE, yes FREE, and no one will take them. Is that at all odd to you? I called a man who buys roosters too eat, and he has bought some from me before, he has too many and doesn't want them. I made a craigslist ad a week ago, nothing. Our friend with chickens on our road doesn't want them. We have a very self sufficient family who is good friends with us and they don't want them, but I will call them again. We have had them in the local paper a few weeks now, nothing. We tried another paper a week ago, nothing. I don't understand, other than the processing, they are FREE MEAT. I also have some other younger roos I need to get rid of too. I am vegetarian, so I won't eat them. They are eating TONS of chicken food and are stomping on the other birds. I need them gone. Someone recommended I snap their necks and toss them over the hill, but I don't believe in wasteing food and I can't snap a neck anyhoo. What should I do?

Where in ohio are you!
I bet people don't think of roosters as meat!!! Probably grossed out by the fact they would be eating a rooster.
I'm in ohio too, I'm near youngstown!

Ah..... I think it's the TURKEN thing.

I guess you either love em, or hate em - and that goes for meat OR looks...

dont know where you are, but i have a lady that will come and get my roosters, no matter what breed. there is a auction in rogers where you can take your birds. Pretty much every area with a amish community has a auction, so Millersburg might be more convienient. thats where the Shwartzentrubers are.

I let the darn things loose, they were squishing the silkies. They are loving the freedom!! I have other free rangers over there. They have some shelter, water, and I toss a little food out for them every morning. They look like dinosaurs and two of the them are missing tails, they are in the ugly cockeral stage. I might take them to the amish to eat. Youngstown? I will have to look on my map. Thanks!!

Awwww are they too ugly to adopt or something? Why not butcher them and give them away to your eat meating family or friends? Nothing wrong with that. Can't find someone to process them for you? Or let a predator get them if you don't care about the expense of having to feed them in the interim. Good luck regardless.
