I am wondering if a 40 gallon long tank is good for 3 button quail? I am just getting into quail and would love to keep them in my home. The regular caging seems too messy so I looked a bit into tanks. Is this ok or??

Agree with nabiki also they do better in pairs which is what they do in the wild

It will be okay, but bigger would be better. I use a 50 gallon for a pair.
Ah ok. I had a feeling! I may go for the 55 gal. Also what about bin cages? I assume they'd work the same, but idk.

So I'd need 4 then not 3?
Do you have a pic?
I've just been googling long tanks in images. I don't yet have the tank.

I keep my blind Coturnix in a 50 gal bin cage. I have 2 blind birds, a male and female and I rotate in new roommates pretty frequently. I assume it would probably be fine for a pair of buttons. A lot of people aren’t keen on bin cages because they look so cheap, but I love them, I use them for brooders and cages. I have like 4 in my storage space under the house, and I can just grab one anytime I need a spare cage, hose em off, wipe with Clorox wipes, good as new, and they stack into each other to take up less space when not in use.

My buttons' permanent home is in a bin. They're light enough to clean easily, they're the right size, and they keep my cats out.
Yes, I love the latching handles, my frenchies are very cat like, and they spend immense amounts of time watching what we call quail “tv”. To them it’s better than real tv because they can smell them lol. They’ve never knocked it over, but if they did, it would be messy and scary for the quail, but at least they wouldn’t get out or eaten.
