Novel and cute, but you might see a chicken become obsessed with them. The result would be that the bands would invite pecking by the chicken who is obsessed, and leg injuries could occur.

This is to say that if you want to use the decorative leg bands, keep a close eye on your chickens for such behavior and be ready to remove the bands if they should cause this problem.
 
Silly....if you want to 'dress up' an animal, get a Chihuahua. :D

I use zipties, the charms would create an added risk of them getting caught on something and injuring the leg.

The ones shown look to be a bit tight, zipties should easily move on the leg but not be so loose they get caught on something.

ETA: Since this thread is in the 'raising chicks' forum...

Unless those bands are very elastic with a lot of room for expansion, you will risk having the band cut into the leg as the legs of the chicks rapidly grow. It's painful and can happen before you're aware of it.
