Ok so today I got an egg from one of my EEs and the outside was like leather there was no shell is this ok? I have had this happen once but that was before I was on BYC!

It occasionally happens. If you feed them oyster shell ( you can buy it where you buy their food) their egg shell will form. Unless it happens often, you should not be worried.

X2

Layer pellets (once they start laying) should provide adequate calcium. Alternatively, offering oyster shell and crushed (cooked) egg shells will also serve as good calcium supplements.

But even if they're getting everything they need, soft-shelled eggs do happen from time to time. They are especially prevalent with chickens that are just starting to lay until they can get their systems in gear.
