I’m new to chickens, my chicks are about 6 weeks old and I try to hold them all each day to keep them friendly. One of them today pooped this (see picture) while I was holding her. She is my more timid bird but I wasn’t sure about the orangish/reddish like string. Does anyone know what it is and if there’s something I should do? (Sorry the blanket is a busy color)

That does not look normal. I would start treating all of your chicks for coccidiosis with Corid from your local farm store.

It's intestinal lining, they shed it every so often. It looks alarming but it's normal.

If you see change in behavior (such as lethargy, no desire to eat) then that would indicate coccidiosis, but bloody poops from that look different.
