His barring seems very blurry to me. But then again, i don't have another br his age to compare right now. What do you think?

Not a pure BR, no. Could be a black sexlink male, but not sure. He's awfully dark for a cockerel, even though it does seem like one. I know when I have several crossbreeds with Barred Rock mothers (Silver Phoenix x BR was one), the males were dark like BR pullets, with ghosty, uneven barring. How old?

With that face and neck, I don't think it's a cock of any breed. How old???
My black sexlinks were much whiter than that anyway.

Barred Rocks have yellow feet, right?

Those look like pretty pale pinkish leggs, but it's hard to tell with the photo. Cuckoo Marans have pink legs with grey shading.

He's 5 1/2 weeks old.

And his feet are pale yellow with the grey shading.

He looks like a male to me - but i'm comparing to my br girls whose combs didn't grow or turn remotely pink until much later.

wow......

this chicken also came from Ideal Hatcheries

I guess they deal quite a bit in Sexlinks..... sounds likely.

Maybe you have another pullet Pumpkin......

Maybe another pot of dumplings..... LOL

He/she looks bigger to me in your hand, but I have small hands so who knows.
Definitely has female coloring going on. I guess he/she could go either way on the comb, though I'm still inclined to think that it's a SHE.

I agree, definitely a weird one.

At less than six weeks old, that is a male with that huge comb. I'm not really sure what the heck you have there. Sort of odd, weird leg color for BR and doesn't look like a CM male (too dark). Oddball!
