Yes, I think clean legged is common with MPC, I got like 1 clean legged to every 6 feathered. Quality does vary but if you order enough you will get a few really good ones. My girls are not laying yet but I did see that egg shell remnant and it was DARK!!! If my girls never hit the standard I will be fine with them as long as they lay dark

I am new to the chicken world, my chicks are 11 and 12 weeks. I purchased 2 BCM and one has the orange eyes and the other brown, they both are 3 months old, got them together. I started my search about BCM because I noticed that their faces were sometimes really red and other times just the normal pigment and when doing so I came across more info about the BCM and how they should have the orange eyes which leads me here asking if the one with brown eyes is truly a BCM and if anyone has any input on the face being red sometimes that would be great too. I have included photos of both

Eye color yes - but colors like brown and orange are on a spectrum, so although I can't see the eyes, they could be argued to be a different shade of orange.

So what you have here are a good example of "Hatchery quality". They appear to generally meet breed standards - feathered black shanks, birchen hackles, etc. But they just don't entirely present as a BCM. Hatchery quality is just in reference to hatcheries hammering out birds, and not selectively breeding for good presentations.

So, in all likelihood, along with the general presentation, you are going to have some nice chocolately brown eggs coming from These two. But, if your intention is to breed show birds, these wouldn't be good candidates to start that program

Thank you for your response. Here are the two side by side, I was able to get better photos tonight. No intentions of breeding, pets only The both are very sweet girls, the one with the orange eyes is "my" little cuddly lamp bird . My daughter has been trying to get her to sit with her but not interested.
