BTW. Storey's Guide to Chickens recomends giving them half an hour of darkness every day. Well, I unplugged their heat lamp the other night for their half hour while the house was still warm. Forgot about it and went to bed. The house thermostat is set back to 55 at night so, It could have gotten that cold (probably more like 62.) Nobody died. I'm not saying they were happy about it but I didn't get any complaints in the suggestion box either.
