For a not even one year old cockerel I would consider his crest too big as it even tips over.

Are you talking about a crest (feathers that stick up from the head) or a comb (fleshy red thing on the head.)

I can see that the comb is tipped over, but I'm having trouble seeing any crest at all.

You are right, I meant the comb.

I know the difference, but obviously should not be texting so late/early in the night

His comb looks really strange, modified. That and lack of crest I wouldnt call him pure in the off chance he has something else in there, but he could just be a really poor quality bird. He will still make wonderful EE and hopefully OE offspring.
