Thank you for responding! It’s seems the Hatfields and McCoys post opinions about a lot of things on here lolSand can get soooooo controversial,, that it seemed like the Hatfield's, and McCoy's were doing the postings here on BYC threads.
I am in favor of sand personally, and suggest to others to use COURSE concrete type sand.
Those opposed to sand claim that the silica portion in sand is dangerous. I think silica is a portion in most sand, except maybe some of the manufactured sands made from certain crushed rock.
Your sand should NOT KILL, OR HURT your chickens. I have had sand available to chickens for the past 20 years, and none seemed to die as result. You can try to find some of the course sand from cement supply establishments. (ready mix cement places use it in tons bulk.) Most of those places I encountered will sell bucket quantities of it if you bring your own container.
I recently purchased 1/2 cubic yard bulk, and paid $20 usd.
