Is this sentence correct?

Fractional Part = Portion

What portion are birds?

Fractional Part = Percentage

What percentage are birds?


What portion is birds?
What percentage is birds?

either sentence sounds like something you hear when people are making fun of rednecks.

But maybe it's the birds that're throwing me off... let's try pizza...

Joe ordered a pizza. It looked like this. *insert picture of pizza*

What fractional part is pepperoni?

Sounds right to me, but then pepperoni isn't plural.
What fractional part is eaten? would work too, while What fractional part is eated wouldn't.

But, I swear I saw this not too long ago... was it on here, or was it at home. Cannot recall.
I'll ask DH, he remembers everything... he may be able to shed some light.
