Definitely a pet quality buff cockerel. He has more black undercolour than preferred, and his comb is WAY too raspberry. Yes, it is hard to get a dark comb on a cock, but it can be done.
A red is much, much darker. He is actually kind of light, especially for a male. The aim is "guinea gold." (referencing a golden coin, not guineafowl

And here he is more recently with several buffs. His comb has lightened too much
