That is interesting. Does it go through to the nasal cavity?
I will keep posted to this, because it is very odd.
Do chickens get black heads?
Maybe some one just logged on that knows.

This is a new one to me. Have you had someone hold her so you can look at it more closely? Could it me a buildup of mite feces? What happens to it when you wet it? Maybe its a little extra tissue build up?

I will look at it a little more closely tomorrow but its definitely a hole.

Now that I think about it, I may have seen a dark spot there several days ago, can't recall for sure.

I picked her up and got a better look today. Its a wound of some type. I'm thinking she may have tried to peck something & something poked her there. She is healthy and happy otherwise. Will keep an eye on her.

The wound is clean and not bleeding. Should I just leave it be or put something on it? Anyone else have beak wounds that healed nicely or not?

Could she have gotten stung by a bee, wasp, or something?

If a wound, I'd delicately try to wash it in a dilute iodine or saline solution. Keep a close eye on her to be sure she doesn't get an allergic reaction and swell up her face or nasal passages -- if she was stung, that is. I'd also give her some pedialyte or electrolytes in water.
