From my understanding the more a hen lays the more Bleached out the legs become.

The 'bleaching sequence' according to Storey's Guide to Raising Chickens is as follows:
1 Vent 0-10 eggs laid 1-2 weeks
2 Eye ring 8-12 eggs laid 2-2.5 weeks
3 Ear Lobe 10-13 eggs laid 2.5-3 weeks
4 Beak 25-35 eggs laid 5-8 weeks
5 Bottom of feet 50-60 eggs laid 8 weeks
6 Front of shank 90-100 eggs laid 10 weeks
7 Hock 120-140 eggs laid 16-24 weeks

individual bleaching depends on hen's size, health, rate of production, and ammount of pigment taken in by her rations

I think it probably has to do with the temperature outside. Cold=pale legs.
