I have a newly hatched chick with some issues. For a long time she couldn't stand up...now she is standing but her toes are all curled and she doesn't walk. Her legs aren't splayed but I was wondering if this still could be spradle leg. She can stand on them just with curled toes which makes her fall over when she moves. She was weak last night but seems strong today....

how do I straighten the toes....

that chick isn't spraddled, it's got... curled toes! sorry, i got a good laugh when you accidentally diagnosed it yourself!

you can make little foot splints with various materials and give the chick poly-vi-sol, an infant liquid vitamin. there are several recent threads on this problem, some with great links and/or photos of splints. you can use the search function to find more information.

good luck!

There is some great info on helping her but the sooner you start the better. I've seen folks post pictures on how this did it with bandaids. They spread the feet and then use the band aid to keep toes spread out.
You may want to post something else with advice and maybe some one will chime in. Try "help for curled toes"
