Is this story going to have a sad ending?

Overall they had a fantastic night! Everyone seems really content this morning. One thing that worries me though, and I'd love some feedback, is the spot on the back of one of my orpingtons neck. Are they actually packing each other this early, or is this something potentially contagious that I need to worry about? And either case is there something I should be doing here?

I wouldn't worry about that, probably got a little bit roughed up at the hatchery or in the box. So glad everyone is still peeping this morning, what do the kiddos think of them? :)

Kiddos absolutely love them. Coming up with some really goofy names, so if the kids have their way we're going to have chickens named Butter Mountain, Spiderweb, and Napper. I'll probably pull mom veto power here in a day or so but I love how happy everyone is, including the chicks.
Glad all is going well!
I know the feeling... Kids come up with the funniest names..:lau
My 14 yr old daughter named her pheasants after this years hurricanes..:th

I'm kinda feeling Butter Mountain,that's a keeper. ;)

Oh, a Brahma! One of my all time favorites! We had a big Light Brahma named, appropriately enough as you'll soon learn, "Tank." Big, gentle, calm.....BUT you might want to make your nest boxes a pretty good size. That big old body going into the boxes on top of any eggs that were already in there can sometimes result in scrambled eggs in the bottom of the nest! :lau

I had a black orpington in my last order that had a fluff-less spot on her shoulder. It was a little weepy, but not bleeding and the other chicks weren't messing with it. I took a picture and emailed it to Meyer to ask about it. They said it was likely a rub spot from being in the box, but that they would make a note on my record in case anything became of it. She had that fluff-less spot until her feathers came in, but it quickly became just a small bald spot. You might want to contact Meyer just so they have a record of it. Adorable babies!!
