DE is a respiratory irritant and has little or no real effect.

It is still common practice and there is some evidence that DE does work as a preventative. But, DE will not deal with an infestation and is a respiratory health Hazzard for chickens and humans. My view and the view of many experienced chicken keepers is the hazzards outweigh the dubious benefitsIsn't it still common practice to use food grade diatomaceous earth to keep coops/chickens mite free?
