Is this the kind of stuff that you guys talk about for hardware cloth?

That is what I would call Hardware Cloth. I use it to cover vents in my chicken coop but not much else because it is so expensive.

You should be able to find it locally in a shorter length, say 10 or 25 feet if you don't need the entire roll. Lowe's sells a 3' x 10' roll for about $16.

That is hardware cloth. I usually use 1/2" mesh because it is heavier (19 guage) and in my experience, nothing gets though 1/2" that is a risk to the chickens (they are more likely to eat anything that gets through that, rather than be eaten).

I will be using 1/4 inch 19 ga for my run, bout 10x20. 48 inchesx100 ft of it is over $150 closer to $200 a roll.. im not going to risk losing flock to weasel's, at 1/4 inch not much will get in with the ladies other than a snack. it's going inside to seal all cracks and spaces however small too

Would that also include snakes? Would it be safe to use the expensive stuff on the bottom 3'-4' and something less expensive above that?

Mills Fleet Farm also seems to have good prices if you have one near you:

Unfortunately none near us. I'll have to dig around the site for shipping cost.

This is 23 gauge so it isn't as strong as other gauges (the lower the better).   Wayfair has this one for an extra buck or so and it is 19 gauge:

Thank you for the link. Any idea about shipping times with the site? I'm so spoiled with 2 day Amazon shopping.

From what I understand Wayfair is owned by Amazon??? Either way I'm pretty sure it said free 2 day ship on their site

to each his own, but a weasel isn't going to fit through a 1/2" square...... :)

I just got in a 4'x100' roll of 19 gauge 1/2" mess hardware cloth from Amazon last week, total cost was $161 and of course had free shipping. I'm thinking the 1/4" mesh was more, which would make sense sense it takes more wire to make it.

It was actually shown on the bill as Amazon.com LLC. Just pulled it up and it's now $165, so it's gone up a tad. still way cheaper than buying it local though as sad as that is
