hi!

I build a duck house for some call ducks that i am getting this spring.
the the size of the house is 4x4', i was planning for 3-4 calls. is this too small? i read a while ago they only need 3sq ft of floor space each in the house, is this true?

Bigger is always better, but if the ducks are free ranging and only in there at night I would think they are fine. 3sq is a minimum. Probably plan on extending the coop someday but they should be fine while they are little. Good luck and have fun!

they would only be in there at night, but they will be in a run that is going to be somewhere between 130-150 sq ft of floor space. is that size still ok?

If you can, make sure they have a area to swim, play and bathe, you'll have much happier ducks. In a pinch, we buy large tough cement mixing plastic trays at Lowe's for about $16. They are 2'x3' and 8" deep. Not great for swimming in, but they can play and bathe in them. We put flat rocks in one end to make it easier for them to get out and sink the tray down in the ground about half way (4") to make it easier to get into.
