Is this true about bantam roosters?

I LOVE the sound of OEGB roosters. I always feel like saying "Good attempt little man, but keep tryin'!"

I don't have one, but my neighbors do and I adore hearing it.

My bantams always seemed to crow as much as other roos. Some have crows that are not as loud (Seramas, OEGB) and then some just don't crow as much, but that's just personality, not neccesarily breed.

I had a bantam roo one time he seem to crow 24/7. You could go out at 2 in the morning or 3 am and he would be crowing. He never stopped so I finally gave him away.

We've had two bantam roosters - the first which was a little mean to my wife went back, the second which we dearly love is a bantam cochin. Both crow, but the crowing is not very loud - I remember telling my Mom that it sounded like a worn out old Model A Ford horn, they crow some but it's not a noise that carries very well.

Perhaps you should talk to your neighbors first. I went to mine with a bag of freshly baked Bialys, and talked over the whole thing with them. It turned out one guys was thinking of having chickens again and was all for us getting them... The other neighbor helped me build my coop and as long as I keep my Wyandottes out of his wife's garden I'm ok. LOL...

There are definitely two schools of thought on roosters: some people don't want to risk getting a roo that might be a little aggressive protecting his chickens and might take after someone in your family (like our first one did). The other school of thought is a roo definitely helps maintain a no Drat! environment in the coop, and if you have a gentle rooster they're sweet while still keeping watch over your flock (our second rooster definitely)...

Good luck deciding
