I read somewhere that they can take 1-2 days longer to hatch than a regular size chicken, does anyone know if this is true?

Yes it is true...bigger egg's take a little longer to develop...

I have also heard that but I have hatched 3 sets of Jersey Giants and they all began to pip between day 19 & day 20 and were fully hatched by day 21.

It is very true, but doesn't seem to occur when you hear about hatches with them (weird).

I will let you know. I have 12 JBG eggs in with 12 RIR and 10 BO's in my "Super" bator. They are on Day 12 today. So next Tuesday will be hatch day and I'll know first hand.

I put in two batches of eggs, a dozen silkies and six Jersey Giants three weeks ago, and yesterday and last night all the silkies pipped and hatched except two duds, and the Jersay Giant eggs have not even pipped or peeped yet... Glad I read this. I was about to go excavating and look for the reason. I will give them a couple more days.

Thanks for the info, I will be putting 10 in on Monday. I just wanted to make sure so I didn't freak when they didn't hatch on the 20 or 21 day.

Ok, my chicks are in the process of hatching. This is what happened, the giants were actually the first to pip and have been hatching at a quicker rate than the RIR's and Buff O's I have in the bator. The Buff's are the slowest one of the bunch.

What does this mean?
