I'd do it if it came down to it... but good luck to those little eggs that needed me. I could possibly do 1.

Mine seem to be everybody's favorite spot to get warm and sleep. I had a cat who would climb across like I was a squishy shelf and go to sleep.

If it meant saving a fluffy butts little self I would.

must admit---I've kept a few pups and kittens there when needed. (work for a vet) if mom isn't doing well after having them it's a great place to keep them untill she is ready. Just had to make sure the rest of the crew knew where they were so they didn't try to go looking for them. They stayed cozy and it was hands free.

Well, at least we know the "girls" are good for something.....

It can help in an emergency but your not warm enough to do well at it long term. This has been tried! We had a thread about bra hatching and someone bailed on the wagon and gave it a go, then a few more joined. Some used incubators at night and when showering and such, some tried to do it full time. Lots of eggs broke, a few candled positive but to my recall none hatched.

A hen is 103 degrees and a human is only 98.6 (or should be, it would be a heck of a fever to hold up for 21 days!) so you just can't get the egg to the temp it should be, and humidity is the other issue.

I'll try looking for that thread in the old archives.

EDIT to add it was one of the things we lost in the EZ crash. CC talks about it in the History of BYC 101 thread, but that's about all I can find.
