Is this true?

The average is a hen lays an egg every 26 hours (but usually no eggs are laid after sunset). If that is the top of the bell curve there are a lot on the left and a lot on the right.
Considering breed, genetics, age, environment etc., play all into this, it would still be tough to imagine that one hen can lay 3 eggs a day for an extended period of time.

I think your friend might be trying to impress you! with a fib.
 
Got an idea for you, get an extremely large egg (emu) and sneak it into his coop. Bet anything he will believe his prize bird did it. And you can hide your smile behind a cup of coffee.
