Hi. This is my first post, but I've been a member for a year now. I have learned so much from other posts, but this new ailment is something I am not sure about. I've had my two Silver-laced Wyandottes for three years now, and recently they have stopped laying as of 2 weeks ago. One of them started molting this Sunday, and today I discovered her in the coop on the roost, with white and yellowish discharge coming out of her vent. I thought it might be a stuck egg, but I felt around and didn't feel anything. The other wyandotte isn't experiencing any of the symptoms her sister has, she just isn't laying any eggs. Both of them still have red crops and seem to be eating and drinking normally- except for the one on the roost earlier today. She seems lethargic and not interested in food.
This is a photo of her vent. Any help you all can give would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you! I saw this one earlier and it looked very helpful. I will follow the treatment and see if that helps.

Welcome to BYC!

I am so sorry about your hen. Definitely post in our emergency section for help with her. I hope she makes a full recovery.

Please check out the links Kelsie gave you. I think it is something with her reproductive system and really needs attention NOW

I checked out the links and called a vet yesterday to look at her, and he said it's vent gleet. She was much better yesterday- running around, eating scratch, clucking when my dog tried to play with her- and her poop was completely solid. No yellow. No runny. Today she is still perky and seems better. We are going to keep moving forward with nystatin and constant observation.
Thank you so much for your help with this everyone!

Great news! Sounds like you have a very good vet there to take time to look at her...some vets don't...he/she's a keeper vet! Wishing you all the best!!
