Is this what you call a fart egg?

Had one too from my SSH bantam
Me, too, wondering how that came about. Wondered if she was startled by something while she was laying or the canal just thinks it was an yolk.

Here's an explanation I found of "fart" eggs:
No-yolkers are called "dwarf", "wind" [or, more commonly, "fart"] eggs. Such an egg is most often a pullet's first effort, produced before her laying mechanism is fully geared up. In a mature hen, a wind egg is unlikely, but can occur if a bit of reproductive tissue breaks away, stimulating the egg producing glands to treat it like a yolk and wrap it in albumen, membranes and a shell as it travels through the egg tube. You can tell this has occurred if, instead of a yolk, the egg contains a small particle of grayish tissue. In the old days, no yolkers were called "cock" eggs. Since they contained no yolk and therefore can't hatch, our forebears believed they were laid by roosters.

Oooh- so that what that was! I had one of these last summer. I just put its little innards into the scrambled eggs, shook my head and went on with life. Now I know!!

That is awesome! I've never heard of such a thing. I just had one of my girls lay for the first time today, but her egg was a little bigger that that.

If it's only been two in 6months, I wouldn't be worried. Even if it were more often, I don't know what that would mean...

I think we should try to use correct terminology. We all try hard to teach our children to not be crude and I have young chicken lovers in 4-H that read these posts every day and if they reported this in a project they would be disqualified ! Thanks !

I didn't realize that "fart" egg was incorrect terminology. Is
"wind" egg correct? Please tell me what the correct word is.
