Oh, I was joking. One day I will have a lot of chickens, but even though I'm in the county, it's still residential. I have great neighbors though, and my the end of my land joins a farm. This is my first time with chickens, but nearly my entire paternal side has raised chickens. I remember my great-grandmother getting 100 meaties at a time! I can't do that many though, haha.

I'd love to have 12. That's a good number I think.

Mmmmhhhmmm...I started out with 12, with the intention of 6 being roos, and the city only letting me have 20 total.

A YEAR later, I have NO IDEA how many I have. AND, I won't count until AFTER the DH does this next round of processing. Not even gonna try.

No...I can still only have 20 per 10,000 square feet.

Half of the not knowing is that they move around. A lot. Counting them when they are sleeping is unreliable.

But really, I had a bunch croak when I rescued the wrong chicken and brought disease into my flock. Most of the next generation died, and to be honest, I stopped counting how many died. If I thought about it, and wrote it all out, I would know how many I had. I choose not to.
